Olympic gold medalist, Ryk Neethling, hosted a sophisticated celebrity party on Saturday 17th November to celebrate his 35th birthday.The star-studded affair took place at the chic Polo Club at Val de Vie Estate where he is also Marketing Director.

Guests enjoyed sumptuous canapés and an exciting polo match with the Drakensburg mountains as a dramatic backdrop, whilst being entertained by esteemed singer, Beshara.

Inspired by Ralph Lauren’s classic style, the décor incorporated sophisticated white and navy elements throughout, including two beautifully presented 50-seater tables where guests were then treated to a gourmet dinner prepared by the revered Polo Club chefs.

After an indulgent dinner, an all-white tiered dessert station was revealed and the dance floor opened by entertainer DJ Rene, whilst men were lavished with Fine Brandy. By Design cigars and after-dinner drinks in the bar. A photo booth with polo-inspired props, including beautiful fascinators by The Little Hattery, meant that each guest could have a photo printed as a keepsake.

On departure, ladies were gifted with a Sensai goodie bag, containing a range of exclusive Sensai products worth over R1600, as well as a Moleskin Polo diary. Men left with Fine Brandy. By Design Fedoras atop their heads.

The Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile one of Gauteng’s most glamorous horse racing events of the year brings together top racehorses, famous people and corporate sponsors in aid of charity.

The race will be run on Saturday, November 3. Flint will join 15 other celebrities in adding some glitz and glamour to this popular annual horse race which brings well-known personalities and horse racing together to benefit charity. Through this event 16 charities, 12 associated with Peermont, will each receive a share of R550 000 – the amount will depend in what position the race horse they are drawn with finishes in the race.

Idols South Africa host ProVerb and former Miss South Africa, Nicole Flint are just two of the celebrities gracing the racing extravaganza that sees 16 celebrities publically represent 16 horses for the benefit of 16 charitable organizations.

Our celebs with two learners from Reahile Primary School, Ayanda Lekitlane (12) and Lufuno Radabe (12).

The Katlehong school is one of the 16 charitable organizations that will benefit from the Charity Mile. While the charities will share a whopping R550 000 in the field 16 horses will do battle over 1600m for this trophy, held by Ayanda and Lufuno and R600 000 in prize money.

Lessons in Styling at Val de Vie

Marilize de Clercq, together with Nicky Lonte are hosting a Styling and Make-up Workshop for girls aged 16 to 19 at the prestigious Val de Vie Polo Estate during June and July 2012. 

All guests will receive a mini make-up brush set including notes from Nicky Lonte as well as notes from the acclaimed stylist, Marilize de Clercq who has made special appearances on an array of magazine shows such as Top Billing and All Access. The full day workshop will be divided into two parts; the first section you'll receive professional make-up lessons presented by Nicky Lonte. Marilize de Clercq will conclude the second half with a Personal Styling presentation filled with the latest tips and how to make trends work for you.

 

There are only 20 seats available per workshop; bookings need to be confirmed and payment made one week prior to the date you wish to attend.

The Queen’s Plate

A ROYAL MEETING OF ELEGANCE AND EXCELLENCE The L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate is the oldest and most prestigious horseracing event in South Africa. Its racing elite will gather at Kenilworth on Saturday, 7 January, in a celebration of art, passion and equestrian excellence. First run in 1861 in honour of Queen Victoria it has distinguished itself as the most prestigious weight-for-age race.  In January it will again bring together the most noble thoroughbreds in the country against an august backdrop of blue and white on a day of fine dining and world-class entertainment.   The white and blue elegance that will underpin the Best Dressed and Best Hat competition will be judged by some of South Africa’s leaders in the fashion industry, namely Sam Walker (PopYaCollar), Emily Bell (Marie Claire), Jacqui Kolbe (Milliner) and Tammy Tinker (British Vogue). The day will be captured by professional photographers in what has become known as The L’Ormarins Moment. The popular Style Lounge will include culinary delights from sushi to gourmet burgers and sandwiches, as well as a selection of the finest Anthonij Rupert Wines. There will also be a selection of vintage cars on display from one of the largest collections in the world, courtesy of the Franschhoek Motor Museum. The L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate has captured the imagination of personalities and sporting icons alike, including the legendary Gary Player, Ernie Els, Bryan Habana, Schalk Burger, Jacques Kallis and Graeme Smith, as well as celebrities Francesca Cumani, Kitty Spencer, Joanne Strauss, and Jen Su.
