Egypt still Africa's Leading Attraction


Still the front runner as Africa's leading attraction the Pyramids of Giza left other natural wonders as the Victoria Falls, the Serengeti National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro in the dust. A number of Egyptian tourist attractions, hotels and organisations emerged victorious at the World Travel Awards 2011, Africa & Indian Ocean Ceremony on 16th September.

Held at the Egypt Hall at Soho Square in Sharm el Sheikh, Cairo which was also voted Africa's leading beach destination. Despite a decline in tourist visits during the revolution that deposed former President Mubarak earlier this year.  Africa's Leading City Hotel went to the luxury Kempinski Nile in Cairo, which opened last year and is designed by French architect Pierre Yves Rochon.

The WTA ceremony comes ahead of Egypt hosting the United Nations World Tourism Organization’s World Tourism Day, which will be celebrated in the city of Aswan on 27th September.
