The Rise Skyy Vodka's Elevated Experience

 

“No lows, just highs. Tonight’s the night we all rise.” This is the chorus from a new single called “The Rise,” released at SKYY Vodka’s highly anticipated “Elevated Experience” in Johannesburg on Friday 17 May. 

 

Although the song is the soundtrack to SKYY Vodka’s latest LIFE IN THE SKYY advertising campaign, it was the first time that the full-length version was heard by partygoers anywhere in the world! 


The song was recorded by Lerix, an up and coming rapper from Brooklyn, and produced by Pulse Music in New York, well known for producing Grammy Award winners, like Mary J Blige, Herbie Hancock, Tim McGraw, Sting and Britney Spears.


Hailed as a contemporary, high-energy party anthem, “The Rise” celebrates people who break the glass ceiling, climb the corporate ladder, lead the way, reach for the stars and rise to the top of their game.

There they experienced three SKYY bars, including SKYY 90 and SKYY Infusions, as well as big names from the world of South African music. DJs Fistaz Mixwell, p.H. and SPHEctacula who pumped up the party, while live performers, like Donald and TKZEE, took it to a whole new level. Asilia Africa Introducing Little Oliver's Camp

 

Aspiring to grow its footprint, its positive impact and to be a leader in improving and expanding natural habitats. Asilia is the first Sustainable Safari / Lodge Company in Africa to receive a 5 Star rating for Sustainability from GIIRS. Founded in 2004 with a strong presence in both Tanzania and Kenya.


To celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of Tanzania’s most iconic camps in the Tarangire National Park, Asilia Africa will be opening Little Oliver’s on 1st July 2013. Deep in the south eastern corner of the park, surrounded by mystical baobab trees, is Oliver’s Camp, one of Tanzania’s original safari camps.

When Paul Oliver built the camp in 1992, he chose Tarangire because it offered an authentic, untamed African experience. 20 years on the camp still holds true to that philosophy and Asilia Africa celebrates this landmark anniversary with the opening.

Shower under the African stars


Little Oliver’s Camp will comprise of 5 luxury, en-suite tents overlooking a flood plain of the Minyonyo Pools, part of the Tarangire River, approximately 1km downstream from the original Oliver’s Camp. The spacious tents are beautifully appointed with furniture made from reclaimed dhow wood and the large decks maximize the views over the animal packed swamp ahead.

The tents have both indoor and outdoor showers, allowing guests to shower under the African stars. The communal dining area is the perfect place to relax at the end of the day and reflect on the day’s sightings. The intimate size of this camp makes it ideal for groups of friends or family who want to take it on an exclusive basis.

Walking in a National Park is a rare privilege


Activities at Oliver’s and Little Oliver’s are as diverse as the bird life in Tarangire! As well as traditional game drives, taking you off road for better game viewing, both camps offer walking safaris within the national park. To be able to walk in a national park is a rare privilege.

At both Oliver’s and Little Oliver’s walks can vary from a gentle morning game walk, where guests learn about tracks and spoor, to a 3 day wilderness adventure, sleeping out in a lightweight fly camp with nothing more than a tent and a small crew of staff. It is likely that you will get close to larger mammals with Oliver’s experienced walking guides but this is the chance to take a closer look at the little things and appreciate the African bush from the earth upwards.

Little Oliver’s will be built with the utmost respect for the environment in which it is situated. The original Oliver’s Camp was the first African accommodation to be certified through Sustainable Travel International‘s Sustainable Travel Eco-certification Program (STEP), the globally recognized gold standard in eco-certification, for its ongoing sustainability initiatives. Little Oliver’s will continue to uphold these high standards of sustainability.

Opening on the 1st July 2013 the rates start at US$ 580 per person per night on a full board basis, excluding national park fees. Tents can be booked on an individual basis or the entire camp can be booked for private groups.

The Paravanda and Strelitzia Low Mintage Gold Medallions



Celebrating both the centenary of the Chelsea Flower Show and the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens centenary with two beautiful collectors medallions. The South African Gold Coin Exchange is the main sponsor once again and for the third time of the South African Kirstenbosh exhibit to the Chelsea flower Show in London.


The “Paravanda Nelson Mandela medallion” is the second edition to the flora series launched last year with the extremely successful Mandela Strelitzia ‘Mandela’s Gold’. Due to the successful launch and sale of the Mandela Strelitzia ½ oz Gold’, we are also now launching a 1 oz gold version of the same medallion.

The "Paravanda Nelson Mandela ½ oz medallion" comprises of a ½ oz gold medallion and features the well-known profile of Mandela on one side with the distinctive Paravanda Mandela orchid on the other. The "Paravanda Nelson Mandela ½ oz medallion" (mintage of 1 000) has a pre-launch price of R 22 500.00 (incl. vat).


The following will be included in the Paravanda packaging:
Each Paravanda medallion is accompanied by a print of an original Paravanda Nelson Mandela painting, which was painted by a known South African painter. as well as The certificate from the Mint of Norway.


3. Mandela Strelitzia 1 oz Limited Mintage: 200 launch: R44 250
The "Mandela Strelitzia – Mandela’s Gold” 1 oz medallion" comprises of a 1 oz gold medallion and features the well-known profile of Mandela on one side with the distinctive Madela’s Gold – strelitzia on the other. The "Mandela Strelitzia – Mandela’s Gold” 1 oz medallion" (mintage of 200) has a pre-launch price of R 44 250.00 (incl. vat).

We will be receiving the first batch of all 3 medallions towards the middle of June 2013.

Women: Inspiration & Enterprise Symposium Africa


WIE Symposium Africa in association with The Wellbeing Foundation

WIE Africa will be the first women’s symposium on the African continent to bring together female leaders from the worlds of politics, business, philanthropy, media, fashion, entertainment and the arts to empower and inspire the next generation. The inaugural WIE Symposium Africa is to be held from May 5th to 7th, 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa.


WIE (Women: Inspiration & Enterprise), founded in 2010 is a global annual conference and online community designed to empower the next generation of women leaders. WIE Africa is timed to coincide with the World Economic Forum Africa and will showcase the women taking a central role in shaping the Africa of tomorrow.
